How fit do you want to be? Or how slim?
All of us have a natural body metabolism - the system whereby we burn off calories. Some of us do that faster than others and that is that way it is. But we can all lose weight - if that is what we want. And we can all be fitter than we are. Within limits.
Moderation in all things - including moderation.
If you are a thick-set, big-boned physical type, you will NEVER be a thin, slim, small boned type. That may be sad, may be unjust - but it is a fact. With facts such as these, we can accept or we can choose to disregard, but (if I may suggest) the latter course will not make us happy.
So what to do? Take some form of physical exercise 3 times a week for 30-40 minutes. Work hard enough to work up a little sweat and keep the heart working. Find a form of exercise that you enjoy. If you dislike the gym, don't go. Walk somewhere inspiring, run, ride a bike, buy a home rowing-machine, play tennis, swim with a friend. Use your imagination. The list is endless.
But don't cheat - DO work up a little sweat. Drink plenty of water and finally, eat properly.
Exercise followed by rewarding yourself with high-carb foods, sweet drinks and treats won't work. Concentrate on the fruits, vegetables and salads that will fill you up with good stuff. Eat meat a bit, and oily fish. Have an occasional dessert if you want.
Moderate everything - and exclude worrying about 'dieting'. Just eat well, exercise well and be good to yourself.
As a result - and this can take some weeks or months - you will be slimmer and fitter. Don't expect miracles.
You'll find contentment can take years (and pounds) off you.
